Goes well with

Sunrise started latching its trash lids because of one curly dog, and on this t-shirt that dog is the size of a building.

The Cooposaurus Rex New King Women's T-Shirt is a relaxed-fit trash panda t-shirt with a monster-movie poster across the chest. Coop rears up as a shaggy giant with a spiky mane and one clawed paw in the air, and because this is a monster-movie poster, fire pours from his jaws. Three raccoons huddle round a flaming can at his feet under the words King of Trash Pandas.

  • A relaxed fit that hangs loose and moves easily
  • Soft combed, ring-spun cotton, pre-shrunk and side-seamed to hold its shape
  • Eleven colours, including White, Pink and Heather Blue Lagoon

Portrait of Coop

Species/Type

Dog (Bernedoodle)

First Appearance

Episode 1

TL;DR

Renji's dog, a curly Bernedoodle who wants to play, eat, help and be included in everything, and who has never once suspected that his help is why the job now takes twice as long.

Coop — Original

Coop greets people with his whole body, leans his full weight on anyone he likes and brings them things he is sure they need, with mixed results. He believes he fits on laps. He has been wrong about this for years. He does not drool, which makes it the one mess nobody at Sunrise has had to plan around.

Coop — Cooposaurus Rex

After the mutation, Coop can grow from ordinary dog size into a spiky-maned giant that stands thirty-one feet tall on its hind legs, then shrink back down again. Nothing inside him changes. He still wants to help, still wants to carry things, and still leans on the people he loves, which at that size can flatten a fence.

Backstory

Renji guides the tours at Sunrise Sanctuary. He brought Coop home in 2022, when Coop was eight weeks old: all curls, bad coordination and feet that seemed to belong to a bigger dog. From the start Coop was Renji's own dog, part family and part roommate. Before long he had also made himself Renji's assistant, a job nobody remembers creating.

Renji's days at Sunrise were full of work, and Coop joined all of it. If Renji carried something, Coop inspected it. If Renji crouched down to fix something, the gap between Renji and the problem looked like an ideal place to put a dog. Coop came out of puppyhood with one firm rule about work: whenever somebody is doing something with their hands, there is probably an opening for an assistant.

Growing up left that rule intact and simply added more dog to it. Coop became a big, curly Bernedoodle who approached doorways, laps, workbenches and smaller animals with the confidence of a dog half his size. He could carry someone a present and knock over two unrelated things on the way. Trouble with Coop usually starts with play, appetite, affection or a sincere attempt to pitch in. He also gets over it fast. Once everyone has finished reacting, he is ready to try something else. Possibly the same thing.

Paper is his weakness. Garbage bins are worth a look, cardboard boxes are worth a longer one, and the tube from the middle of a toilet paper roll is a treasure. On the day a fennec fox arrived at Sunrise, Coop walked into the office with an empty tube held carefully in his mouth and laid it across the paperwork a staff member named Jo was reading. She slid it onto the floor. He put it back. She slid it off again. He put it back again. Finally Jo placed the tube between his teeth, turned him toward the door and gave his shoulder a small push, and he trotted out looking pleased with how the meeting had gone. Later, at a tour group's picnic, he left the food alone, collected one paper napkin from every blanket and delivered the whole stack to Renji, who had no plan for it.

Coop is dopey. He is also sharper than he looks. He knows Sunrise's routines and the commands he has been taught, recognizes the people and animals around him, and notices when one of them is hurt or upset. What he cannot do is read the room. A serious conversation looks to him like several people conveniently gathered in one place. Somebody who is upset may suddenly find a big curly dog pressed against their legs, because Coop knew something was wrong even if the reason was well beyond him.

Renji is the fixed point in all of it. When something feels wrong, Renji is the first person Coop looks for, and being kept away from him is the one thing that turns Coop's cheerfulness into real distress. On the fox's first day, a visitor asked whether the dog was part of the tour. Renji said no. Coop sat down on Renji's boot and leaned harder. That was that. His heart has plenty of room besides: people, other animals, food, play, good smells and paper, roughly in the order they appear in front of him.

At thirty-one feet, all of this gets harder to live with. Cooposaurus Rex has to learn to pause before he helps, and for Coop even a short pause is a big ask.

Meanwhile Sunrise has adjusted to the regular-sized version. Trash lids latch a little tighter, the paper towels live on a higher shelf, and anyone doing delicate work keeps one eye on the door. Sooner or later a curly head appears in it, carrying something.

Fabric is Slight Sheer

  • The fabric is slightly sheer and may appear see-through, especially in lighter colors or under certain lighting conditions.
